Activities in Khao Lak:
Orchid Garden Khao Lak is a combination of an orchid farm and an exhibition, that shows all stages of nursing orchids, from the minuscule seeds to the flowering plant.
As most native orchids bear flowers only one time per year, a small exhibition with pictures of several orchids in their natural habitat and from the orchid garden helps visitors to understand the complicated life cycle of the orchid family. While the exhibition is in English language only, books with explanations in German, Swedish, French, Czech and Russian language are also available.
Discover the mystery of the biggest family in the vegetable kingdom during your holiday in Khao Lak and learn why you cannot buy seeds to grow them. Besides some orchid hybrids with their large and long-lasting flowers, Orchid Garden Khaolack concentrates on the native orchids of Southern Thailand and their reproduction. Only a very limited number of plants, that were grown from seeds are available for sale.
Visit this place during your Khaolak vacation to see the colourful flowers of various hybrids, that have been cross-breeded for easier cultivation or admire the small flowers of the natural ones that are found on trees in the upper canopy of the rain forest, where the humidity is high all year round.
Khao Lak Orchid Garden is located in the hinterland of Bangniang Beach on the way to Chongfah Waterfall and just 300 metres from the main road, besides Khaolak Minigolf.
Orchid Garden Khaoluk is open daily from 09:00 to 17:00 from 01 November to 15 April. To cover the costs of electricity, water and the maintenance of the area, an entrance fee of 50 Baht per adult and 30 Baht per child is charged.
