Khaolak
is located about 50 kilometres north of
Koh Phuket Island on the mainland and is part of
Phang-Nga province. It is an area, where the lowlands,
that extend behind the coast, disappear and the
rain-forest covered mountains are reaching the sea
shore. This area was declared Khao Luk Lumru National
Park in 1991. After passing this rocky headland,
the beaches of Khaolak start, that stretch for about
30 kms northwards to the old tin mining town of
Takuapa. Sunset Beach,
Nangthong Beach, Bang Niang Beach, Khuk
Khak Beach, Pakwib Beach
and Bangsak Beach extend
to the north of the national park area, while A single beach, namely Khao-Lac
Beach is located south of and adjacent to Khaolak
Lamru National Park.
Khao
Lak is spelled in many different ways like Kao Luk, Khao Lac, Kau Lak,
Kao Lak, Kau Lac, Khao-Lak, Kao Lak, Ko Lak, Khaolak, Khao Lack, Khao Luk, Kao
Lac, Kho Lak, Kao Lack and Khaoluk. For
